ASIS International, with more than 38,000 members, is the largest international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security. In addition, corporate executives and other management personnel, as well as consultants, architects, attorneys and federal, state and local law enforcement, are becoming involved with ASIS International to understand the constant changes in security issues and solutions.

The Pittsburgh Chapter was chartered January 21, 1957, the 9th chartered chapter in the United States. the original elected officers were:
William McLaughlin- Chair
Glenn Dunlap and Frank Hammack- Vice Chair
Ted Tracker- Secretary/Treasurer
Since 1957, the chapter has grown to over 250 members in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. The chapter holds monthly meetings with educational sessions, an annual golf outing, an annual Law Enforcement appreciation luncheon and other events.
The Chapter has announced plans for enhanced member education, new initiatives for Women in Security and Young Professionals and creating stronger partnerships with area colleges, Law Enforcement and Emergency Management organizations.
